Gwent Trek Triumph!

Two young teams from FreeSpirit spent the weekend hiking around the Gwent countryside in temperatures of 28 degrees. Incident bases had to be completed along the route testing knotting, navigation and 1st Aid skills. FreeSpirit won the overall Explorer Trophy for the 2nd year running.

Summer Camp Triumphant Returns

17 members of FreeSpirit ESU were selected to attend the World Scout Jamboree. They spent almost 3 weeks with 40,000 scouts from around the world and visited Denmark, Sweden and Holland. Read all about their travels here: http://muddydragons.org.uk

One member of FreeSpirit was selected to attend the Serbian Jamboree. His storry and pictures will be available soon.

FreeSpirit recapture Gwent Trek Trophy(revised 28.9.10)

Three teams entered the annual Gwent Trek competition this year all containing a number of Scouts from our local feeder troops. Our strongest team (FS C+) led the way completing the two day hike and all competitive challenges along the route to take 1st place and lift the trophy!

First Queen Scout Award for FreeSpirit (revised 23.2.10)

Saturday 20th Feb 2010 saw two members of FreeSpirit Explorers gain the highest award in Scouting - The Queens Scout Award. Kieran Spiers and Richard Perry recieved their award from the UK Chief Commissioner, Wayne Bullpit, at the annual DAFDA gala dinner evening in Cwmbran. [Photos in Gallery]

Second Explorer Belt for FreeSpirit(revised 27.1.09)

The Explorer Belt is the highest expeditioning award in Scouting. During his month in Kenya, Sam's projects included building a school for the local village, learning the local language and treking to the highest peak in the region.
